Associate Civil Engineer (Contract) – Outside IR35

An established engineering consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced Associate-level Civil Engineer on a contract basis to support a strong pipeline of infrastructure and development work.
This is an Outside IR35 role, suited to a senior contractor capable of leading technical delivery, managing design teams and driving projects forward with minimal oversight.
The Role
You will operate at a senior level within the team, taking responsibility for technical delivery across a range of highways and infrastructure schemes. This will include overseeing design outputs, coordinating multidisciplinary inputs and ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and review highways and infrastructure design (roads, junctions, drainage, earthworks)
- Oversee feasibility studies, technical assessments and engineering analysis
- Ensure compliance with UK standards including DMRB, MCHW and relevant guidance
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across structures, geotechnical and environmental disciplines
- Act as a key technical point of contact for clients and stakeholders
- Support delivery from concept through to detailed design and approvals
Requirements
- Strong experience operating at Senior / Associate level within a consultancy environment
- Proven track record delivering infrastructure and development projects
- Excellent knowledge of UK design standards and approval processes (S278, S38, etc.)
- Proficient in Civil 3D and associated design tools
- Ability to lead teams and deliver projects autonomously
