Associate Civil Engineer

The role

  • Leading the design of drainage and infrastructure schemes across commercial, residential, data centre, retail and industrial developments.
  • Producing Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) designs and highway infrastructure to adoptable and DMRB standards.
  • Preparing drainage strategies, flood risk assessments and technical reports.
  • Using industry-standard software including Civil 3D, MicroDrainage/Causeway Flow, AutoCAD and PDS.
  • Managing project programmes, budgets and technical delivery.
  • Attending site visits, design meetings and client meetings.
  • Liaising with Local Authorities, Water Companies, Highway Authorities and other statutory consultees.
  • Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior members of the team.
  • Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
  • Ensuring designs comply with current legislation, technical standards and industry best practice.

What you need to succeed

  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer, or actively working towards Chartership (ICE, CIWEM or equivalent).
  • Strong post-graduate experience within drainage and flood risk engineering.
  • Proven experience delivering infrastructure projects across sectors such as residential, commercial, industrial or retail.
  • Strong knowledge of drainage design, flood risk assessments and SuDs.
  • Proficiency using Civil 3D, MicroDrainage/Causeway Flow, AutoCAD and/or PDS.
  • Excellent project management skills with experience delivering projects to programme and budget.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build lasting relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Previous experience mentoring or leading junior engineers would be advantageous.
  • A proactive approach with excellent problem-solving and technical decision-making skills.
