The role
- Leading the design of drainage and infrastructure schemes across commercial, residential, data centre, retail and industrial developments.
- Producing Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) designs and highway infrastructure to adoptable and DMRB standards.
- Preparing drainage strategies, flood risk assessments and technical reports.
- Using industry-standard software including Civil 3D, MicroDrainage/Causeway Flow, AutoCAD and PDS.
- Managing project programmes, budgets and technical delivery.
- Attending site visits, design meetings and client meetings.
- Liaising with Local Authorities, Water Companies, Highway Authorities and other statutory consultees.
- Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior members of the team.
- Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
- Ensuring designs comply with current legislation, technical standards and industry best practice.
What you need to succeed
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer, or actively working towards Chartership (ICE, CIWEM or equivalent).
- Strong post-graduate experience within drainage and flood risk engineering.
- Proven experience delivering infrastructure projects across sectors such as residential, commercial, industrial or retail.
- Strong knowledge of drainage design, flood risk assessments and SuDs.
- Proficiency using Civil 3D, MicroDrainage/Causeway Flow, AutoCAD and/or PDS.
- Excellent project management skills with experience delivering projects to programme and budget.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build lasting relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Previous experience mentoring or leading junior engineers would be advantageous.
- A proactive approach with excellent problem-solving and technical decision-making skills.
