The role
As a Civil Engineer, you’ll play an important role within the technical design team, working on projects from initial design through to delivery.
You’ll be involved in the design and coordination of roads, drainage and infrastructure, working alongside clients, consultants, contractors and statutory authorities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and delivering road and drainage schemes for commercial, retail, residential and industrial developments
- Designing SUDS features and roads to adoptable standards
- Progressing Section 102, 104 and 106 agreements with statutory bodies including Southern Water and Thames Water
- Progressing Section 38 and 278 applications with Highway Authorities through to completion
- Attending design meetings, site meetings and site inspections
- Working collaboratively with clients, colleagues and other members of the professional design team
- Preparing technical reports for submission to relevant authorities, including SUDS, drainage and flood risk assessment reports
- Coordinating designs across different disciplines to ensure projects are delivered effectively
- Ensuring project documentation meets the required quality standards
- Taking an active role in your own professional development, identifying relevant CPD, training and seminar opportunities

What you need to succeed
- 2–5 years’ relevant post-graduate experience in civil engineering design
- An accredited degree in Civil Engineering
- Experience designing roads and drainage schemes with limited supervision
- Good working knowledge of relevant civil engineering design software, including AutoCAD, MicroDrainage, PDS, Civil 3D, Causeway Flow or similar
- Strong communication skills, with the confidence to liaise with clients, authorities and other professionals
- A proactive approach to learning and professional development
- A full UK driving licence to attend site visits, meetings and inspections
Experience with level strategies, cut and fill exercises and Isopachyte drawings would be advantageous.
