An award-winning multidisciplinary consultancy is seeking an experienced Associate Director to lead and grow its Water & Flood Risk team in London.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically strong and commercially minded professional to play a key leadership role within a highly respected business, delivering flood risk, drainage and water management solutions across a diverse portfolio of development projects.
Working alongside senior leadership, you will help shape the future of the discipline, drive business growth, mentor technical teams and provide expert advice to both public and private sector clients.
The Role
As Associate Director, you will:
- Lead and manage a growing team of Water & Flood Risk specialists
- Oversee the successful delivery of multiple projects across a variety of sectors
- Provide technical leadership in flood risk, drainage and hydraulic modelling
- Act as Project Manager, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
- Support planning appeals, public inquiries and expert witness activities
- Review technical outputs and maintain high quality standards
- Drive business development, tender submissions and client growth opportunities
- Mentor and develop engineers and consultants across the team
- Contribute to strategic planning and operational management of the discipline
About You
You will have:
- 10+ years' consultancy experience within flood risk and drainage
- A degree in Civil Engineering, Geography, Environmental Science or a related discipline
- Strong knowledge of UK planning policy, flood risk legislation and drainage design
- Experience delivering Flood Risk Assessments, drainage strategies and hydraulic modelling studies
- Proven success obtaining approvals from Local Planning Authorities, LLFAs and the Environment Agency
- Strong commercial awareness and project management experience
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- A full UK driving licence
Desirable
- Chartered status (CEng, C.WEM or equivalent)
- Master's degree in a relevant discipline
- Experience with Nutrient Neutrality, Water Neutrality and Environmental Impact Assessments
- Industry profile through publications, presentations or technical leadership
- Experience influencing policy, standards or best practice
