The role
- Leading civil engineering design projects from feasibility through to detailed design and construction stages.
- Delivering highway and drainage design solutions for residential, commercial and mixed-use developments.
- Preparing and reviewing technical reports, drawings, specifications and calculations.
- Managing project programmes, resources and technical delivery.
- Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and technicians.
- Liaising with clients, local authorities, contractors and other design disciplines.
- Ensuring projects are delivered to the highest technical standards, on time and within budget.
- Supporting the continued growth and development of the wider engineering team.
What you need to succeed
- A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Significant experience within UK civil engineering consultancy/design environments.
- Strong technical experience in highways and drainage design.
- Experience delivering infrastructure solutions for residential, commercial or mixed-use developments.
- A strong understanding of relevant design standards and industry guidance.
- Experience using design software such as Civil 3D, AutoCAD, MicroDrainage or InfoDrainage.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- The ability to manage projects independently and support the development of junior team members.
- Ideally Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional accreditation.
- Experience preparing Section 38, Section 104, Section 106 and Section 278 agreements.
- Experience coordinating with local authorities and external stakeholders.
- Previous experience acting as a technical lead on civil engineering projects.
