Civil Engineer – Housebuilding

Salary: Circa £45,000–£55,000
Package: Car/Car Allowance + 10% Bonus + 10% Pension
Employment: Permanent, Full-Time

The Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Civil Engineer to join the Technical team of a leading UK housebuilder.

You will be responsible for the coordination and delivery of civil engineering packages across residential developments, covering highways, drainage, external levels, private drainage and adoptable infrastructure.

This would suit an Engineer currently working for either a housebuilder or civil engineering consultancy who has experience delivering infrastructure for residential developments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and coordinate detailed civil engineering designs for residential developments.

  • Produce and manage Section 38, Section 104 and Section 278 designs and approvals.

  • Coordinate highway, drainage, external levels and private drainage designs.

  • Assist with technical site appraisals and engineering feasibility work.

  • Manage technical submissions and liaise with Local Authorities, Water Authorities and other statutory bodies.

  • Coordinate external engineering and foundation design consultants.

  • Assist with the discharge of engineering-related planning conditions.

  • Resolve technical issues throughout the design and construction process.

  • Progress developments through technical approval, construction and final adoption.

  • Arrange maintenance inspections and progress bond reductions and releases.

  • Work closely with internal Land, Planning, Commercial and Construction teams.

Experience & Skills

Ideally you will have:

  • Previous civil engineering experience within a housebuilder or engineering consultancy.

  • Experience working on residential development infrastructure.

  • Good knowledge of S38, S104 and S278 agreements.

  • Strong understanding of highway and drainage design.

  • Experience with AutoCAD.

  • Experience using PDS, Civil 3D or similar infrastructure design software.

  • Experience with MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage or similar drainage software.

  • Knowledge of adoptable highway and drainage standards.

  • Ability to coordinate consultants and manage technical approvals.

  • HNC/HND/Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline would be advantageous.
