Contract Senior Civil Engineer – London

Location: London (Hybrid Working)
Contract Rate: £40–£50 per hour
Contract Type: Contract

We are currently looking for an experienced Contract Senior Civil Engineer to join a busy engineering consultancy in London, offering hybrid working and a competitive hourly rate.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in residential infrastructure design, with experience delivering drainage and highways schemes from initial feasibility through to detailed design and technical approvals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver civil engineering designs for residential and mixed-use developments.

  • Design foul and surface water drainage systems, including SuDS.

  • Undertake highways design, including access roads, junctions, roundabouts and estate roads.

  • Prepare levels strategies, earthworks designs and cut-and-fill assessments.

  • Produce and review detailed engineering drawings and drainage calculations.

  • Manage technical approvals, including S104, S185, S38 and S278 agreements.

  • Liaise with local authorities, water companies and external consultants.

  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and technicians.

Key Requirements

  • Previous experience working within a UK civil engineering consultancy.

  • Strong residential infrastructure, drainage and highways design experience.

  • Proficiency in either Site 3D, Civil 3D and Causeway Flow.

  • Experience delivering projects from feasibility and planning through to detailed design.

  • Good understanding of relevant UK design standards and technical approval processes.

  • Ability to work independently and manage project deadlines.

  • Strong communication and coordination skills.

  • You must live local to London
