Senior Project Engineer – Residential Development

The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join a major residential developer working on significant residential and mixed-use developments across London.

Sitting within the Technical/Engineering team, you will take responsibility for coordinating and delivering the civil engineering and infrastructure elements of developments from initial design and planning through detailed design, technical approvals and construction.

This could particularly suit an experienced Senior/Principal Civil Engineer currently working within an engineering consultancy who has strong residential development experience and is interested in moving client-side.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the engineering delivery of residential and mixed-use developments
  • Coordinate external civil, structural and infrastructure consultants
  • Review highway, drainage and infrastructure designs
  • Manage S38, S278, S104 and S106 technical approvals
  • Oversee drainage strategies, SuDS and flood risk requirements
  • Review levels, earthworks, external works and utilities information
  • Coordinate with Planning, Architecture, Commercial and Construction teams
  • Liaise with Local Authorities, Highway Authorities, Water Companies and statutory bodies
  • Review technical drawings, reports and specifications
  • Identify and resolve engineering constraints
  • Attend design team, consultant and site meetings
  • Monitor consultant performance and technical programmes
  • Provide engineering support throughout construction
  • Assist with planning conditions and infrastructure adoption

Experience

Ideally you will have:

  • Civil Engineering qualification
  • Strong residential development infrastructure experience
  • Consultancy, developer or housebuilding background
  • Good knowledge of highways, drainage, SuDS and external works
  • Experience with S38, S278 and S104 approvals
  • Understanding of planning and adoption processes
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary consultants
  • Strong technical and project management ability
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Experience with Civil 3D, AutoCAD and InfoDrainage would be beneficial, although this is predominantly a technical coordination and project management role rather than a hands-on design position.
